Handling multiple roles of a Father, a Son and a Husband is
like working in a circus and juggling multiple balls while walking on a very
fine rope line balancing your way without dropping any ball, one misstep and it’s
like falling hundreds of feet without a net to save you.
Today is Christmas and we just had Christmas Eve party last
night at our friends’ house and returned home late night. The mood was festive
and everyone seems to be happy. It wasn’t too long that I was not feeling well just a
day before with 101 degree fever and tired with all the yard work finished just
before the party. Wife and kids unfazed by all this were expecting to go to a
movie – PK, just released few days back and even more after the failed expectation of
wife and kids (more of a wife, than kids) to take them to the movie on the evening
I returned back from the office with high fever. Thinking to fulfil the wife expectation a day later “on
the Christmas day” looked at show timing for the movie and prepared to buy
tickets for the movie, wife sitting beside me looking at the facebook &
whatsapp,” her fulltime job”, did not wanted to discuss the show time because
she was too busy & did not want to get disturbed from facebook and whatsapp. Currently it was 2:10pm and movie starts at
3:45pm, I asked if we have enough time to eat lunch and make it to movie in
time. But not wanting to get disturbed
by her facebook/whatsapp browsing she screams at me and says you could just buy
the tickets and we will go (don’t know which show time though). The Husband as the name says “bajva band with
hasi on the face” is blamed for not taking the wife & kids to movie gets
punished by not getting lunch and dinner, keeping kids away from me, not letting
them see movie online with dad. Wife does not want to discuss the movie show
time they would like to go, but “Husband” gets blame & punishment for no
mistake of his. Felt lonely, helpless and depressed the rest of day with kids
not talking or coming near me, not having an option to reach out to the other
extended family already extended too far to reach out by no other than the
lovely wife.
Believe me or not “Wife Rules” and “Hus-band is a Fool”.
Merry Christmas!!!
